Skilled Immigration
Australia opens its doors to about 300,000 new migrants in 2008–09 across categories - its highest level since the Immigration Department was created after World War II.

Business immigration
The Business Skills migration program encourages successful business people to develop or invest in new or existing businesses in Australia, while providing them and their families with the opportunity of settling permanently in Australia.
The 2008-09 Australian Migration Program provides for 133, 500 skilled migrants, many of which gain entry to Australia because of their work and business skills.

The Business Owner (Provisional) Visa is for people who can demonstrate a successful business career and who have a genuine and realistic commitment of being involved as an owner of a new or existing business in Australia.
As a holder of a Business Owner (Provisional) visa for at least 2 years, you may be eligible to apply for a permanent Business Skills (Residence) visa if you have met the obligations of your provisional visa.
The Investor (Provisional) visa is for people who can demonstrate a successful business career and have a genuine and realistic commitment to be invest in a new or existing business in Australia.
As a holder of an Investor (Provisional) visa for at least 2 years, you may be eligible to apply for a permanent Business Skills visa if you have met the obligations of your provisional visa.
The Senior Executive (Provisional) visa is a Business Skills visa designed for individuals who have been senior executive employees of a major overseas business. They are required to demonstrate significant net assets and a genuine and realistic commitment to the management of a new or existing business in Australia.
As the holder of a Senior Executive (Provisional) visa for at least 2 years, you may be eligible to apply for a permanent Business Skills (Residence) visa if you have met the obligations of your provisional visa.
The Business Talent visa is designed to attract the highest caliber business people who are owners or part owners of a business to contribute to the success of a new or existing Australian business. This visa requires State or Territory government sponsorship and is a permanent visa that provides the holder with Australian permanent residence.
Successful applicants will be expected to have a genuine and realistic commitment to work in Australia and participate in the management of a new or existing Australian business.
Overseas Education
The Overseas Student Program (OSP) allows overseas students to come to Australia to participate in study at various levels, including, secondary, tertiary, post-graduate vocational and non-award courses. Anyone wishing to study in Australia is required to obtain an appropriate Student visa before commencing any course. To be granted a Student visa your enrolment must be in a registered course on a full-time basis.
There are currently almost 223, 000 students participating in Australia's Overseas Student Program.
